The Science of Spectral Energy Dissipation

The durability of our yellow oxide comes from its "Band-Gap" electronics. When UV photons strike the pigment, the energy is absorbed but cannot break the strong covalent bonds of the α-FeOOH crystal. Instead, the energy is dissipated through "Lattice Vibrations" (heat). This scientific process ensures that the color-producing mechanism remains intact, unlike organic molecules which undergo "Photo-oxidation" and break apart. This is why our mineral yellows look as vibrant on day 5,000 as they did on day 1.
