High Temperature Stable Pigments

High-performance inorganic pigment with excellent color stability, weather resistance, and broad application range.

Solutions for Extreme Thermal Conditions

Deqing Demi Pigment Technology Co., Ltd. supplies high temperature stable pigments that are critical for industries where heat resistance is non-negotiable. Our specialized composite pigments are designed to replace less stable organic or standard inorganic colorants in applications facing extreme thermal stress. We ensure that our high-temperature stable range delivers consistent color performance and durability, preserving the product's aesthetic value even after severe thermal processing or deployment in high-heat operational settings.

Industries with High Thermal Demands

  • Powder Coatings: Pigmentation that survives the 180∘C to 220∘C curing ovens without degradation.
  • Ceramics and Frits: Coloring agents for low-fire ceramics and glass coatings.
  • High-Performance Plastics: Engineering polymers like PEEK or PTFE processed at temperatures exceeding 250∘C.
  • Silicone Rubber and Elastomers: Pigmentation for parts that function near engines or heat sources.

Critical Heat Resistance Features

  • Phase Stability: Prevents crystalline structure change and subsequent color loss during thermal cycling.
  • Decarbonization Prevention: Specifically engineered to prevent the thermal breakdown of certain iron oxide phases (e.g., Fe3O4 to Fe2O3).
  • Chemical Inertness at Temperature: Does not introduce harmful volatile components or react with the surrounding polymer/binder matrix at peak process temperatures.
  • Color Consistency: The minimal ΔE shift before and after high-heat exposure ensures color fidelity in the final product.
  • Q: Can I use these pigments in processes over 300∘C?

A: While some specific grades are rated up to 280∘C, temperatures exceeding 300∘C typically require specialty ceramic or mixed metal oxide pigments. Please consult our technical team with your specific time/temperature profile for a precise recommendation.

  • Q: Why is the thermal stability different for Iron Oxide Yellow compared to Iron Oxide Black?

A: Iron Oxide Yellow (FeOOH) is chemically less stable and dehydrates to Iron Oxide Red (Fe2O3) around 180∘C. Iron Oxide Black (Fe3O4) is generally more stable. Our High Temperature Grades use synthesis methods that maximize stability for each color phase, but inherent chemical properties still dictate the maximum safe temperature.

Thermal Synthesis and Certification

Our proprietary manufacturing process uses precise furnace temperature and atmospheric control during calcination to achieve maximum thermal stability for each color index. This ensures reproducible and robust performance under heat stress.

Sample Testing Program: We offer a tailored high-temperature testing service where we evaluate candidate pigments within the client’s actual polymer or coating matrix to validate performance under simulated production conditions.

Chromatic Stability Analysis

Our high-temperature pigments are characterized by a tight tolerance on the ΔE (color difference) value when tested before and after thermal exposure. This stability is measured using a spectrophotometer, tracking changes in the L*, a*, b* values. The thermal stability process ensures that any subtle shifts in hue (a∗,b∗) or lightness (L∗) are minimized to maintain the targeted final color during and after the user's curing process. We prioritize stability over initial chroma in this category to guarantee long-term color reliability under heat.
